Money is fundamental to how the world works and understanding its use/abuse is essential to leading a stable life. Why then do we shelter our girls from all conversations concerning money?
Boys in most households are encouraged to take part in the budgeting process and are encouraged to think about it but not always girls. Worse still, we teach girls to let the males around them deal with financial issues as if they aren’t fit to do so.
We should teach them about saving, about banking and be aware of unwise use of her money. We should teach girls to manage personal finances and be able to plan for future with or without their husbands. We need to equip our daughters to manage money and better still, to be economically independent.
Why should she have to ask for money when she is capable of earning it herself?
